ENGLISH SYNOPS:
TOTEM is a choral film about life. Seven-year-old Sol spends the day at her Grandfather’s home, helping her aunts Nuri and Alejandra for a surprise party they are throwing for Sol’s father, Tonatiuh. As daylight fades, a strange and chaotic atmosphere takes over, shattering the bonds that hold a family together. Sol will come to understand that her world will change dramatically, embracing the essence of letting go and cherishing the breath of life.
DK SYNOPS
Syvårige Sol tilbringer dagen i sin bedstefars livlige hus i Mexico City, hvor familien, på lettere kaotisk vis, planlægger et surprise party for hendes kræftsyge far.
Som dagen går på hæld, går det op for Sol, at hendes liv snart vil ændre sig radikalt. 'Tótem' er en hjertevarm og gribende fortælling af Lila Avilés.
Filmen har hjemtaget adskillige festivalpriser og opnåede shortlisting som 'Bedste internationale film' ved dette års Oscar-uddeling.
